Hit Tennis – Like Wii Sports on your iPhone, iPod Touch
by Rob LeFebvreHit Tennis, a $1.99 game in the iTunes App Store, is a simple game of tennis with some pretty solid controls. If you’re a fan of the Wii Sports model of gaming, this one may be right up your alley, to mix a metaphor or two. The developer, SmartPuma, made sure to let the racket move to the ball, and allow you to just worry about hitting it. That’s skill-based enough for me, thank you.
The game comes with three speeds – slow, medium and fast. You can play with one or two players (one at each end of the iPhone or iPod Touch screen. The one player game just has you serve, while the two player allows you to turn the phone around and trade serves after each win or loss.
The controls are easy to figure out: simply slide your finger up on the screen to hit the ball. The faster you slide, the harder you hit the ball. Slide your finger diagonally, and you’ll slice the ball that way. To serve, slide your finger back, then slide it up. Simple. You can have regular Tennis Rules, or just use it as Fun/Practice. The graphics are nothing to write home about, but they do the game justice, and really, do you NEED super hi-rez graphics in a quick game of tennis on your mobile phone?
This is a perfect “bathroom game.” You know, one of those games you don’t want to be too involving while you do something that may or may not require your full attention. It loads quickly, it’s easy to start up, and you’ll be hitting tennis balls in no time (please, only use one-player in the bathroom).
See below for the Tutorial, which is also included in the App itself. Then, if you like the wii-sports style gameplay, aren’t too bothered by the graphics, and like good control systems, go lay down your $2 USD in the App Store now.

That looks very great. Is it free for the iphone ?
Actually, PS3 Fan, it’s $1.99 in the App Store. There’s a grey rectangle at the end of the article that will take you right there. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for the review! More games are on the way, and Hit Tennis will get an upgrade at some point. Mark – the author.
