Despite how everybody’s eyes seem to be focused on the DSi at the moment, Nintendo are slyly releasing a new DS Lite bundle, made specifically for Mother’s Day. Previously only available in Europe and Japan, the new Lime Green DS Lite comes complete with a rather feminine looking fabric case, and Personal Trainer: Cooking.
For those that are attentive enough to notice the similarities (and know of it’s real title) of PT: Cooking, you will notice that it’s ‘Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What to Eat?’, but localised for the US; replacing ’s’ with ‘z’ and removing ‘u’ from colour and favourite takes a lot of manpower and time, it seems.
Having used Cooking Guide before, I can say that it would certainly be a welcome aide to someone who keeps their DS with them at all times, and with the case it’s shipping with, there is no doubt in my mind that this is their aim. Available from May 3rd, there is pricing or who will sell it yet, however there were rumours that this could be a GameStop exclusive.

I can confirm that Gamestop is selling it, and unofficially it's priced at $169.99.
Pretty sly marketing on Nintendo's part. Although it feels more like an acknowledgment of their casual base, more than a push TOWARDS it :-)
All I can say is that Mothers won't see this as a games console like gamers do; with this bundle, it will be seen as a handheld device. The Cooking Guide pretty much sorts you out to make the dishes, with a shopping list, changing amounts based on people attending, searchable by time, country and skill level etc. It's a good start.
What's with the idea that Mother's all want to become better shoppers and cooks? How about we get the Father's a cooking and shopping guide, and get the Moms on our lists iPods and Gaming consoles? w00t!
I don't know any mothers that necessarily WANT to become better cooks. BEcause damnit, they're perfect already, right? :-)
You've obviously not eaten my mother's "creations"… :/
And your father's cooking? Should we get him a DS with Cooking Mama on it?
I'm pretty sure he has the Turkey sandwich down pat…
I mean they both NEED it, but the question is would they use it? I think they'd be more apt to use a book or recipe card.
