John Carmack, creator of fun things that wasted away my childhood, announced that Doom Resurrection will be appearing on the iTunes app store next week due to a portal technology mishap that ripped a hole into Satan’s living room. This brand new Doom game is a side-story for the events that happened in Doom 3 and features enemies and weapons from the previous game. Tilt controls are confirmed for aiming, but let’s not hold our breath to see how well that’ll work.
Carmack has had a hard-on for the iPhone for quite some time, and by making sweet love to Apple’s mobile device, has given birth to multiple gaming projects. Wolfenstein RPG temporarily leaked some weeks ago and the original Wolfenstein 3D is available now. There is a multiplayer version of the original Doom planned to be released in the near future.
For those of us who are fearing that this game may only work on the newly-announced 3GS, do not fear. Carmack does not want to disappoint gamers who are unable to upgrade to the beefier tech and Doom Resurrection will function just fine for your gimped iPhones and iPod touches.
If anyone can make a FPS work on an iPhone, Carmack can. Keep an The Portable Gamer for more coverage of this upcoming title!
