Developer/Publisher: Sonic Boom Inc.
Genre: Horror
Price: $.99
Verdict: Buy It – The price is right
Pros: Great for pick up and play gameplay, zombie hordes, great music
Cons: little replay value
Oh yeah! Zombie killing goodness. There’s nothing better than spooling up for a quick round of “Explode the Zombie” and iZombie – Death March is pretty satisfying. For the $.99 cent price tag it is perfection.
You get six quick levels, some of which require you to use a flashlight to find the zombies while you target them with your shotgun using finger taps on the screen. I never quite got the hang of it entirely and my flashlight swings wildly some of the time. I like the little bump up in difficulty since it’s very easy to target zombies with finger taps in my opinion. In between levels, the story of where you are and what you’re doing is brought to you in a campy, b-movie style reminiscent of Army of Darkness. The music is sufficiently creepy and appropriate to the style of game. I personally don’t find much replay value since the physical levels remain the same even though the difficulty of the level can be determined at the beginning of each of the six segments. This does create more challenge and shouldn’t be underestimated. Also, you may be different than I am and not mind the repetitive nature of the levels.
I wouldn’t let the brevity of the game stop you from grabbing this if you like the idea of killing wave after wave of the infected. You are also able to unlock cheats that improve the types of weapons you can use, never-ending horde mode, invincibility mode and a story only mode. If you’re really into this type of game these winnable cheats should keep you going. Overall, this is a neat little zombie game to have if you’re just trying to kill a little time, and a few undead.
